Opened in July 2012, Harmony House's new cageless no-kill adoption center showcases our cats and kittens in Chicago's greenest shelter. The design is organized around a central landscaped courtyard for day-lighting and access for all shelter users, visually and physically, to nature. Cats in every room of the shelter enjoy natural light and look out at the trees and flowers surrounding the building.
While our name was chosen to reflect the way our cats live together, it also reflects how Harmony House as an organization rests on the Earth—in Harmony with Nature.

Sunday, October 6th, is our Walk for Cats. Because of our extra guests and activities, adoption interviews will not be conducted that day. Please visit Harmony House on another adoption day that week if you wish to adopt a cat or kitten. ________________________________

Effective February 1, 2013, the adoption fee for a kitten or an adult cat up to 7 years of age will be $85. The adoption fee for a cat 8 years or older will be $75. ________________________________

Founded in 1970, Harmony House is Chicago's second oldest no-kill animal shelter...
...and also the second humane organization to open a cageless adoption center for cats and kittens in Chicago. We receive no city, county, state, or federal funding, and rely entirely upon contributions from caring animal lovers like you to provide for the cats.

Parking
Ample street parking is available for adopters and guests on Elston Avenue. Please look for parking spots on Elston Avenue if possible to leave residential parking spaces for our Logan Square neighbors. One handicapped parking spot is available in our George Street driveway with display of a handicapped placard.

Monday, Tuesday, Friday 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Animal Protective Association's Harmony House for Cats is a cageless no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing and placing injured and abandoned cats.
Summer is a time for vacations, block parties, festivals, baseball, and lots of fun activities. Here at Harmony House, summer is also the season where our vet bills skyrocket, but our donations dip the lowest for the year. With litters of kittens and injured cats needing special care at our shelter, we have a backlog of $8500 in vet bills to pay.
